Last Nexus Standing In The US Falls 16GB Nexus 10 Now 'Sold Out' [Update: It's Back]
Update: It looks like the 16GB Nexus 10 is back in stock now. If you were one of the unlucky few who missed the first batch of orders, go ahead and claim yours now.
There's no denying Google's launch of its new Nexus lineup has been a little bumpy. On launch day, we saw near-instantaneous shortages of the Nexus 4 in multiple countries including the US. Shortly after the Nexus 4 sold out in the US, the 32GB Nexus 10 fell. Then the Nexus 7 3G. Just today, we heard reports that many US customers were receiving "backorder" emails, indicating their Nexus 4 order may not ship for up to three weeks. Now, the last Nexus standing has fallen the 16GB Nexus 10 is officially "sold out" in the Play Store.
In some sense, we could have seen this coming, considering four out of five new products had already sold out entirely. What isn't clear is exactly what this means. Did Google manage to sell an overwhelming amount of Nexi over the past forty-eight hours? Is this an instance of "false scarcity?" Could they be throttling orders due to supply concerns? It's impossible to know right now, and in fact, we have no idea when the devices might be in stock again, so if you're a prospective Nexus owner who missed the (admittedly hurried) boat, all you can do for now is hope. Of course, we'll keep you updated as more details emerge.
