Slices for Twitter tops Android Apps of the Week

You can post to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr.

Hurricane - American Red Cross (Free)

With hurricane season underway, theres no better time to check out the Hurricane - American Red Cross Android app. Prepare for some of the years most severe weather by tracking storms, receiving tips and step-by-step instructions for readying your home and loved ones. Hurricane - American Red Cross also comes with an in-app toolkit, complete with strobe light, flashlight and audio alerts. You can use the app to keep in touch with loved ones as well even if the power goes out, letting friends and family know youre safe by posting an update via Facebook, Twitter, email and text. Youll also be able to locate nearby Red Cross shelters, and earn badges by proving your knowledge of hurricanes via in-app quizzes.

Lookout Security & Antivirus (Free)

Googles had a rough time keeping the Android devices safe from viruses, ushering in a new era of security apps to fill in the gaps. Lookout Security & Antivirus was amongst the earliest to take an Android-specific approach to mobile security, and a major update this week made it even easier to interact with the app remotely. Realizing many people use Lookout from others smartphones and tablets, Lookout revamped its mobile web experience to manage your account from someone elses device. You can pinpoint your lost phone on a Google Map, sound an alarm, access recently saved photos and contacts.

SeatGuru by TripAdvisor (Free)

Known as a hub of travel information and reviews, TripAdvisor is building a new knowledge database around flight information. With the new SeatGuru app, you can pick your seat on the plane, search for low airfares and receive real-time flight status alerts. The app offers seating advice, in-flight amenity information (like if your flight has WiFi), and recommendations for various airlines. Optimized for Android devices, SeatGuru has over 700 seat maps from almost 100 airlines. Gain insight from its countless passenger reviews so you know exactly what kind of deal youre getting before you buy that ticket.

WiFi Shoot! [Beta] (Free)

There are countless ways to share photos these days. Using the built-in Android WiFi Direct API, Wifi Shoot! is among the first to leverage Androids Ice Cream Sandwich update, which is required to access this app. Once youve downloaded the app, WiFi Shoot! will appear in your Share menu as a way to send media, such as photos and videos. From there, select the file you want to send, pair the receiving device and pass the file along. Still in Beta, the app currently works with local files only, though we hope WiFi Shoot! adds cloud media support in the future.
